Summary
Many CKD patients struggle to stick to their treatment plans, with 30%-50% of those with chronic illnesses not consistently taking their prescribed medications. This can lead their health to worsen and for them to need more treatment. Many kidney care patients also have the added burden of dialysis and of needing to make changes to their diet and fluid intake. Healthcare professionals often offer support to patients to help them to navigate these challenges but there are not enough tools to help healthcare professionals decide on the right support for the right patient. This study aims to find out what kidney patients think about a short checklist which could be used in consultations to help start these discussions.
In this work, we are asking people to complete one or two versions of the checklist that are relevant to them. The checklist asks about your experiences with medication and/or dialysis or food and fluid guidance. We are also asking people for their feedback on this checklist and thoughts on whether it would be useful in their healthcare. We are also asking some general questions about themselves and their health so we know how the people who’ve given feedback compare to the whole range of people with kidney disease.
The whole survey should take about 15-20 minutes to complete.
