Holiday and respite break grants

We offer financial grants for holidays and short breaks for kidney patients and their families, to help you take a well-deserved rest from the endless hospital visits and ongoing treatment.

Kidney disease can leave you feeling low, isolated and trapped at times. You may rely on benefits to get by and it’s not easy when illness stops you working and has a real impact on family life.

We give grants to individuals and families towards the cost of a basic holiday in the UK or overseas. The grant can be used to cover the total cost if it is modest or it can be used as a contribution towards the final cost.

Please apply for a grant before booking your holiday.

We cannot reimburse patients for holidays that have already been paid for.

Applying for a holiday grant

Before applying for a grant it's a good idea to download and read through our Applying for a grant leaflet (if you'd prefer a printed copy, please contact us).

If you’re a social worker or member of a kidney care team applying on behalf of a patient, call 01420 541 424 with any questions.

Please note that processing times for applications can be up to 8 weeks so we suggest that you plan well in advance if you are applying to Kidney Care UK for a holiday grant.

How to apply for a holiday grant

You'll need to contact your kidney unit social worker or a member of your kidney care team as all applications for grants should come to us on a grant application form completed with their input.

If there's no member of staff available to help, get in touch with us and we will talk you through the process.
