Fighting for safety: Anneka’s kidney warrior story and the Safe Lines, Safe Lives campaign

In this episode, Dee is joined by Anneka Murphy. Anneka is a Primary school PPA cover teacher, a devoted wife, and a mother of four who has been navigating life on dialysis for the past year. Anneka received an unexpected diagnosis of chronic kidney disease (CKD) stage 3b following a needle stick injury. Having no prior health issues, Anneka recounts the rollercoaster of medical appointments, emotional challenges, and the impact of CKD on her family, especially her children. Anneka also advocates for Safe Lines, Safe Lives campaign. Motivated by her own struggles to access essential medical supplies due to cost-cutting measures, Anneka is passionately working to ensure government provision of infection-prevention equipment for all central line patients.
