Get involved with World Kidney Day 2026

On Thursday 12 March we celebrate 20 years of World Kidney Day! For two decades, this worldwide campaign has been raising awareness of chronic kidney disease (CKD) and helping people to understand how important kidneys are to our health. Here are three ways you can take part at home.

Shine a light on kidney health

At 7pm on Thursday 12 March, please light a candle or shine a torch and share our social media assets online. Shine your light for yourself, your donor, your loved ones – let's turn the skies and social media yellow this World Kidney Day! Follow Kidney Care UK on Facebook, Instagram, Threads, Bluesky and LinkedIn to share your photo in the social space you prefer.

Celebrate someone who has made a difference

Take some time to acknowledge someone who has made a difference to your kidney journey by adding to Kidney Care UK's celebration page.

It's completely free to share your stories, pictures and thoughts to this page and remember the people who have been by your side.

Kidney Care UK's Celebration Wall

This World Kidney Day, remember those who have helped you on your kidney journey. It could be your kidney donor, a friend who supported you through a difficult time or a trusted healthcare professional. Whether they're celebrating with us still or fondly remembered, let the world know the difference they made.

Your kidneys are Bloody Amazing – let people know!

Over 300,000 people have completed our Kidney Health Checker quiz. It takes just five minutes to find out if you are at higher risk of kidney disease and receive information on the next steps. By sharing the Kidney Health Checker, you could alert someone to their risk and let them know to ask their GP for simple tests to check their kidney function.

I'm supporting the #BloodyAmazingKidneys campaign

This World Kidney Day we want to bring the Checker to even more people: please share our social media posts, and you can download materials and share the campaign on this page too.

Get inspired by the dialysis team at Edinburgh's Western General Hospital, who are sporting our #BloodyAmazingKidneys T-shirts all week to raise awareness of World Kidney Day 2026!
