What should I consider when planning my charity golf day?

Here are some key steps to help you create a winning event:

  1. Choose your venue and date: Your venue is key to the success of your charity golf day, and many golf clubs offer discounted rates for charity events. Have a chat with your preferred golf course to see how they can support your fundraising efforts.
  2. Set an entry fee: Charge players a fee to take part, which could cover any green fees, food, and a charity donation. The fee you choose will depend on the venue, so be sure to discuss options with them.
  3. Catering: Catering can range from light snacks to a full meal. Consider partnering with local business to sponsor the event to help cover the costs and keep your fundraising focused on Kidney Care UK.
  4. Secure sponsorship: Local businesses can play a big part in your charity golf day by sponsoring holes, donating prizes, or contributing towards event expenses. Partnerships help your event run smoothly while raising more money for Kidney Care UK.
  5. Ticket sales: Carefully plan your ticket price and options to maximise sales, cover the event costs and raise funds.  You could offer: single player tickets; fourball tickets (it's normal to offer a discount over the single ticket price to encourage group participation); exclusive/VIP tickets (at a higher price, but including food and drink for a premium experience)

Boost your event's fundraising potential with fun games and competitions

These exciting challenges will keep your participants engaged while raising as much money as possible.

Raffles and auctions

A raffle or auction during the day can greatly boost your fundraising efforts. Use your contacts, or approach local businesses, to have some sought-after prizes, making your event a fun, competitive and profitable way to raise money.

Penalty drop shots

Add a bit of fun to the day by charging a small fee for penalty shots. For example, players can pay a fee for every shot over par or for every bogey scored. This way, no matter how your round goes, you're still helping make a difference.

Nearest the pin

Charge a small entry fee for the chance to win a prize for landing closest to the pin on a designated hole.

Hole-in-one challenge

For an entry fee offer a bigger prize for anyone who scores a hole-in-one! If there isn’t a hole in one at your event you can always add the prize to the auction to raise even more money later.

Mulligans for sale

Let players purchase a mulligan (a second chance) for a small donation. It’s a fun way to get everyone involved and add to the excitement!

Longest drive

Encourage competition with a longest drive contest, with a small donation required to participate. Offer a prize to the winner and watch the fun (and funds) grow!

Donation

Can’t make it to the event? No problem! Provide a way for those who can’t attend to still contribute to the cause, helping you reach even more supporters.

Thank you for supporting Kidney Care UK!

Once your charity golf day is over and the prizes have been handed out, take a moment to thank everyone who made the event a success. This includes participants, volunteers, sponsors, and all those who helped behind the scenes. Let them know how their support is making a real difference for those affected by kidney disease. It’s also a great opportunity to share more about Kidney Care UK and the life-changing work they do – we’re happy to provide you with information to help tell that story!
