Kidney Care UK supporters raise funds sky high by pulling airplane 50 metres down runway

Kidney Care UK supporters and staff have raised almost £4,000 by pulling a Boeing 737 plane down 50 metres of runway at Bournemouth Airport over the August bank holiday weekend.

The Kidney Warriors team celebrated the charity’s 50th birthday by dragging the 35,000kg plane across the tarmac alongside 30 other charities that participated in the annual event at Bournemouth Airport.

Kidney Care UK is the UK's leading patient support charity for people with kidney disease and has been supporting patients since 1975.

The Kidney Warriors competed against 30 other charities to pull the 35,000kg plane fastest.

The team’s 14 members included NHS staff and healthcare professionals, as well as employees at Bournemouth Water, who work with Kidney Care UK to deliver additional support to vulnerable customers.

Kidney Care UK staff members also helped pull, including charity CEO Paul Bristow. Together they raised £3,920 to support people living with kidney disease!

What an incredible day! It was a privilege to join our supporters for this once-in-a-lifetime challenge. Pulling 35,000kg of plane 50 metres is no mean feat, and doing it for our 50th anniversary felt extra special! It was so inspiring to see the effort on our Kidney Warrior's faces – a massive thank you to everyone who joined in!

The money raised will go towards Kidney Care UK’s work to deliver vital support for people with kidney disease, from information for patients to help with finances and navigating treatment.
