Watch Carlie's London Marathon 2025 diaries

Meet Carlie, one of our 2025 London Marathon runners!

Carlie was diagnosed with nephrotic syndrome when she was 23 years old, and she will be receiving treatment for the rest of her life. Earlier in 2024, her father died of cancer and before he died, Carlie asked him what charity he wished people to donate to at the funeral. Her dad said, "anything to do with kidneys!"

All my life, my dad was a huge fundraiser and anything to do with kidneys was so important to him. My sister had an operation on her kidneys when she was a baby and then with me having nephrotic syndrome it was a cause extremely close to his heart.
Carlie, talking about her dad

Carlie chose to run the London Marathon 2025 to raise money for a cause that meant the world to her dad, and in memory of her hero. She had always promised him that one day she would take on a marathon of a challenge – what better challenge than the actual London Marathon!
