Our collaborative partnerships

At Kidney Care UK, we believe in the power of working together for the greater good, and that partnerships can help us achieve the best outcomes for the kidney community.

People living with kidney disease often manage multiple health conditions and we are always keen to work with other health charities to help highlight any risks related to kidney disease.

We also know that if you are a kidney patient you are also a person and what matters to one will often matter to many; that's why we are proud to have worked with other charities on campaigns about benefits, as well as campaigning with coalitions on issues such as unfair prescription charges.

Patients are at the heart of everything we do.

Kidney Care UK collaborative partnerships include:

World Kidney Day

On World Kidney Day, we work in partnership with Kidney Research UK, Kidney Wales, the NKF, the PKD Charity, Popham Kidney Support and the UK Kidney Association (UKKA) as part of the Kidney Charities Together group.

Covid-19 guidance

As well as our work raising awareness of World Kidney Day in the UK, we also worked with the Kidney Charities Together group throughout the pandemic in order to provide patients with the most up-to-date information.

Patient information

Kidney Care UK's patient information is produced in partnership with the UKKA, the leading professional body for the UK kidney community. Together we create a series of high-quality, free to access leaflets and website information pages on a variety of topics relating to kidney health.

PREM (Patient Reported Experience Measure)

Every year, we produce the annual PREM survey in collaboration with the UKKA. PREM aims to help kidney unit teams understand how patients feel about their experience of care, show where improvements can be made from a patient perspective, and provide a national picture of people’s experience of care.

Kidney Kitchen

Kidney Care UK's Kidney Kitchen was created in partnership with the British Dietetic Association Renal Specialist Group. The Kidney Kitchen exists to ensure that, despite dietary restrictions due to kidney disease, no food is off the table. We work with specialist dietitians to find ways to make all of your favourite recipes suitable for someone who needs to reduce the potassium and phosphate in their diet.

Kidney Kitchen Shepherds Pie

infoKID

infoKID is an online information resource about kidney conditions in babies, children and young people. The website is produced by Kidney Care UK in association with the British Association for Paediatric Nephrology (BAPN).

Prescription charges

We are members of the Prescription Charges Coalition, working with over 50 charities and organisations to call for a review and overhaul of the unfair prescription charges system. This hasn’t been reviewed in over 50 years and given that England is the only nation in the UK where you have to pay for your prescriptions, we are calling for change.

Sepsis and kidney disease

People with kidney disease are more likely to develop sepsis. That’s why we’ve teamed up with the UK Sepsis Trust to create information about CKD and sepsis, as well as sharing patient experiences of sepsis.

High blood pressure and kidney disease

People with high blood pressure are at risk of developing kidney disease. When the British Heart Foundation published research about people with CKD and their risk of having a heart attack, we worked with them to ensure we could share this news with our community.

Guarantee our Essentials

Many kidney patients are unable to work and often live in some of the more deprived areas of society. As demand for our financial support increased after 2022 and throughout the cost of living crisis, we supported the campaign led by the Joseph Rowntree Foundation and the Trussell Trust to ensure that the basic rate of Universal Credit is enough to ensure that someone on this benefit is able to get by and able to afford providing the essentials to live on.

Kidney Care UK's collaborative partnerships

  • Kidney Care UK utility partnerships

Kidney Care UK's utility company partnerships provide vital support for thousands of people living with chronic kidney disease (CKD) in the UK.

  • Welcome to infoKID

infoKID provides information for parents and carers about kidney conditions in babies, children and young people. Read about conditions, tests, treatments and supporting information, on screen or in downloadable leaflets.

  • Kidney Kitchen

At Kidney Care UK, we receive more questions about how to eat well to stay well with CKD than almost any other topic. You can enjoy eating our kidney-friendly meals every day as part of a healthy, balanced diet, with the added reassurance that we find inventive ways to flavour each dish without adding salt!
