Sally has been working as a Consultant Paediatric Nephrologist at Birmingham Women’s & Children’s Hospital since 1995, having completed her doctorate on research conducted at the Institute of Child Health in London and Great Ormond Street Hospital. She has pioneered research and treatment in rare inherited kidney disorders, particularly those needing both combined liver kidney transplantation.
Sally has served on many national committees for the Royal College of Paediatrics & Child Health and more recently acted as Vice President of the Renal Association and President of the British Association for Paediatric Nephrology from 2018 to 2021. She has a particular interest in medical ethics and served as an expert member of her hospital Ethics Committee for 12 years.
