Southern Water

Kidney Care UK and Southern Water have joined forces to support more than 150,000 people with CKD in Southern Water’s supply area.

We know there are 26,500 people living with CKD in the four most deprived areas: Thanet, Crawley, Hastings and the Isle of Wight. There are over 3,000 people currently on dialysis in Southern Water’s overall network.

By working together, we will raise awareness of mutually beneficial services in these regions and support kidney patients across the South at a time when this is more important than ever.

Latest updates on our partnership

Since the launch of our partnership in April 2023, Kidney Care UK have delivered in-person training to Southern Water frontline staff to help improve awareness.

Supported by Kidney Care UK, Southern Water has:

  • Seen an increase in Priority Service registrations for dialysis patients from around 100 to 250 customers
  • Introduced an incident response process for customers receiving dialysis, ensuring they have a process in place to support those impacted, utilising Kidney Care UK social media and the renal unit network to highlight the support available.
  • Visited renal units around the network region, offering in person social tariff support and Priority Service registration.
“The training was incredibly interesting. I hadn’t realised how many people suffer from kidney disease and how it affects people till now.”
