Latest updates on our partnership

Since the launch of our partnership in June 2023, Kidney Care UK and E.ON Next have set up a fantastic partnership supporting vulnerable kidney patients across the UK with particular focus on the North East. The impact of our partnership can be seen through the partnership activities and support we have delivered together thus far.

  • We’ve been able to secure a remarkable £182,399 in unclaimed welfare benefits – largely through PIP (Personal Independence Payments) for people with kidney disease across our partnership areas, an increase of almost 50% on the benefits identified the previous year.
  • Kidney Care UK has provided £30,987 in immediate hardship grants to patients across Nottingham, Derby, Bolton, Coventry and the North East. We have delivered counselling to 154 patients across the target regions, resulting in 924 sessions of emotional support and well-being to those facing acute challenges at a cost to the charity of £69,697.23.
  • Delivered 17 training sessions to E.ON’s PSR teams throughout Year 1 of the partnership, so that they can better deal with incoming enquiries from customers living with CKD and those with kidney failure who receive dialysis to stay alive, ensuring that E.ON provides a “best in class” support service to these acutely vulnerable customers. Feedback from the teams at E.ON has included “best external training we’ve ever had” and “thank you so much for your time today, we’ve learned so much about kidney disease”.
  • Implemented a unique industry-charity referral network between E.ON and Kidney Care UK based on a data sharing agreement that enables E.ON Next vulnerability teams to directly refer customers living with CKD into Kidney Care UK for specialist support and intervention. Introduced at the end of January 2024, this system has enabled more than 50 patients to already receive intensive, hands on support from Kidney Care UK, making transformational differences to these households.
  • Hosted drop in clinics at dialysis and pre-dialysis units in Nottingham and Derby, so patients can receive direct support from both E.ON and Kidney Care UK at times that suit their treatment schedule. We have taken E.ON teams to Derby and Nottingham and look forward to running more drop in clinics in London, Bolton and the North East over the coming months.
